What does tribal paint, speedos, head lamps, and banana suits have to do with training for ice climbing? The answer is absolutely nothing. However, what bridges the gap is if you combine all of those things and then add them to a 200 mile, 12 person relay race with 29 hours of non-stop running. We’re speaking of course about the Ragnar Relay Series (http://www.ragnarrelay.com/). Ragnar sponsors the nation’s largest relay race series including races in Utah, Minnesota/Wisconsin, Washington State, Arizona, and New England. Our race team was comprised of 12 VICE members and friends and we ran our faces off from Harvard to Yale (180 miles). Most of the race took place in the rain, one of our two vehicles broke down, a few people got lost, and Rob in his speedo almost caused a few different traffic accidents. As a climbing team we live to work hard and party hard. So after almost 30 hours of racing and cheering each other on, we made it to the finish. Naturally kept the party going with all the other teams who managed to finish as well. Ragnar Relay Series… we highly recommend it.
