Details: On behalf of Tufts Mountain Club (TMC), Vertical Ice Climbing Enthusiasts (VICE), students from Tufts University and nearby colleges, and the local community of outdoor enthusiasts, we would like to express our sincere gratitude to Henry Barber for giving us an exceptional presentation. Approximately 100 people (full auditorium) gathered in Barnum 08 on the Tufts Campus to hear Henry Barber, a world renowned climber, speak about environmental issues, outdoor ethics, self-reliance, personal growth, and overcoming obstacles in the pursuit of life long goals. After the 2 hour presentation, Mr. Barber gathered with interested members of the audience at an off campus location and answered their questions for nearly 4 hours. Members of TMC and VICE worked hard to ensure that this event was well advertised and supported. A raffle after the presentation gave away valuable items from local outdoor stores and climbing gyms. The crash of applause following Mr. Barber's closing comments continued unabated until he offered to take questions. The contacts and connections formed during the coordination and promotion of this presentation represent a golden opportunity for similar successful events in the future. |
